At Align Physical Therapy & Chiropractic, we combine our knowledge as physical therapists and chiropractors with the precision and control of Pilates to help you move better, recover faster, and build long-term strength and stability. This integrated approach allows our patients to go beyond traditional rehab — improving not just how they heal, but how they move every day. This combination bridges the gap between rehabilitation and performance, helping patients not only recover, but move better than ever.
Many of our therapists started their careers as movement instructors — primarily in Pilates. After completing their doctoral degrees in physical therapy or chiropractic, they furthered their understanding of movement and more importantly, aberrant movement patterns to assess, diagnose and treat injuries using a Pilates based treatment approach.
The Benefits of Pilates-Based Physical Therapy
1. Core Strength and Stability
A strong core is essential for spinal health, posture, and injury prevention. Pilates-based exercises activate the deep stabilizing muscles that support the spine and pelvis, creating a solid foundation for movement and function.
2. Improved Alignment and Posture
Pilates emphasizes precise, controlled movement — teaching your body how to move in better alignment. This helps correct postural imbalances and reduces strain on the joints and soft tissues that often contribute to pain.
3. Enhanced Flexibility and Mobility
Through guided stretching and strengthening, Pilates promotes healthy range of motion and muscular balance. Patients often notice less stiffness, better joint mobility, and smoother, more coordinated movement.
4. Balance, Coordination, and Body Awareness
Pilates-based therapy improves proprioception — your body’s sense of where it is in space. This leads to better coordination, balance, and movement confidence, especially during recovery from injury or surgery.
5. Personalized, Low-Impact Approach
Every program at Align is tailored to your specific needs and goals. Using Pilates reformers, mat exercises, and suspension systems like Redcord, we can precisely adjust resistance and support to challenge your body safely at every stage of recovery.
Our goal is not only to get you out of pain but to help you move with strength, stability, and ease. By integrating Pilates into your physical therapy sessions, we focus on long-term results — helping you restore alignment, prevent reinjury, and build lasting resilience.
