Whether your goals include toning, core strengthening, improved alignment, or simply feeling stronger and more confident in your body, this offering meets you where you are. You’ll move through a curated sequence on the Reformer, Tower/Cadillac, and other Pilates apparatus with thoughtful cueing, breath work, and neuromuscular engagement. Every session is custom, intelligently layered, and progressive — allowing you to challenge your body safely and effectively as your strength and proficiency grow.

Fitness-based Pilates at Align is ideal for those looking to advance their physical practice, cross-train for sports and life, or maintain the strength and mobility they’ve worked hard to build.

How It Differs From Pilates-Based Physical Therapy

While both services utilize Pilates equipment and principles, Pilates-based physical therapy is a medical service performed by licensed physical therapists. These sessions integrate hands-on manual therapy, movement assessment, neuromuscular re-education, and clinical exercise progressions informed by your diagnosis and medical history. Treatment plans are rooted in anatomy, biomechanics, and rehabilitation science, and are designed to reduce pain, correct imbalances, restore optimal movement patterns, and support long-term recovery.

Key Distinctions

Pilates-Based Physical Therapy Fitness-Based 1:1 Pilates
Led by a licensed physical therapist Led by a certified Pilates instructor
Medical evaluation & treatment Fitness + strength training approach
Hands-on manual therapy & corrective work Movement, control, strength, and flow
Goal: relieve pain, rehab injuries, restore function Goal: improve strength, posture, tone, performance
May include modalities (manual therapy, neuromuscular re-ed, cupping, Redcord, etc.) May incorporate props & classical Pilates tools

Both paths are intentionally high-touch and tailored — the difference lies in clinical need vs performance-based training. Many of our clients move between both services over time, beginning in physical therapy to address pain or injury and transitioning into fitness-based Pilates to maintain function and continue progressing their strength and mobility.
